About

HAMS is a community drama group based in East Hagbourne, Oxfordshire. We have a 35+ strong membership ranging in age from 16 to 86; all from the Hagbournes, surrounding communities, and beyond.

We have a good mix of technical expertise in lighting and sound, stage management including costume and props, actors and front of house people. Since first being established in 2010 we have gained considerable local support.

We always try to choose plays with large casts, wide ranging themes, and interesting settings; from Alice in Wonderland to Hitchcock to Our Town and Our Day Out, not to mention our forays into comedy with our popular Evenings of Nonsense.

Our Venue

Our productions and rehearsals take place at Hagbourne Village Hall which boasts a stage and also allows for performances in the round. The hall can seat an audience of up to 100 and includes a kitchen and smaller hall where drinks and refreshments can be served during intervals.

Membership

“Drama” is a team effort, taking in acting, costumes, directing, lighting, sound and sound effects, props and set design. Plus we always need folk to help front-of-house during performances whether manning the doors, behind the bar or helping with refreshments. We are always on the lookout for new members and will make anyone of any ability welcome.

We have a modest annual membership fee of £20, however membership is free to those in fulltime education.
